Todd Phillips says the Joker movie goes in a completely different direction than not only a Marvel movie but any other comic book movie has before, and that was the plan according to Phillips.

 

“You can’t beat Marvel it’s a giant behemoth,” he told The New York Times. Let’s do something they can’t do.”

 

The MCU is known for making blockbusters, And Phillips made Joker a smaller film that stands out from the rest of the DCEU.

 

There could be more Joker films in the future. Phillips brought several ideas for more standalone movies featuring the character to Warner Bros.
