Deadpool 3 is in the works at Marvel Studios.
During an interview on Live with Kelly and Ryan, Reynolds was asked about a potential third film. “Yeah we’re working on it right now with the whole team,” Reynolds replied. “We’re over at Marvel [Studios] now, which is like the big leagues all of a sudden. It’s kinda crazy. So yeah, we’re working on it.”
Reynolds two Deadpool films are among the highest-grossing R-rated films ever made. The first movie made over $782 million worldwide at the box office and currently holds am 85% among critics on Rotten Tomatoes. The sequel, released in 2018, earned $785 million and has an 84% on the aforementioned review aggregator.
The future of Reynolds’ Deadpool film was left in doubt after Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox, which saw the former regaining the rights to many of Marvel’s most popular heroes, including the X-Men and Fantastic Four. However, this announcement leaves unclear just what Deadpool’s future at Disney and with the Marvel Cinematic Universe might be. Disney CEO Bob Iger previously indicated Deadpool’s films could remain R-rated at Disney. There’s no indication at this time what the merger might mean for the X-Force film that was in the works prior to the acquisition.
No potential release date was given or Reynolds Deadpool 3 with Disney.
