Before Dave Bautista was making us laugh our butts off in Guardians of the Galaxy, he was a WWE Superstar named Batista who won multiple world championships and put on plenty of great matches. After he performed in his final match in last year’s WrestleMania 35, the wrestler turned actor will be getting his due as People has announced that Dave Bautista/Batista will be entering the WWE Hall of Fame 2020 lineup next year.
The Drax actor will be joining infamous WCW/WWE faction the NWO (New World Order) as the main headliners, with more names to be added in due time. Dave definitely deserves it after all the memories he has given us wrestling fans during his time as an in-ring competitor. He and John Cena were the flag-bearers of this company from 2005 onwards after their memorable title wins in WrestleMania 21.
Dave has commented on the matter, telling People that Vince McMahon called him about the induction and though he wasn’t surprised, the actor said it was an honor. Funnily enough, he stated that the feeling hasn’t sunk in yet and is nervous about giving a speech:
“I don’t think it’s sunk in. And I was thinking about it because I mean, it seems like a long journey, but it also feels like yesterday when I started my career. And it also feels … because I’m still working so much, it doesn’t feel like an end of a journey. And I said that at WrestleMania last year: It’s the end of my in-ring journey, but it’s not the end of my journey with the WWE. I will always be connected with them, I’ll always be affiliated with them, I hope that I will always have a good relationship with them. So it doesn’t really feel like an ending for me, it feels like, kind of, I’m right in the mix. … All I can say is it feels good, it’s just satisfying. I feel like I accomplished something. I feel like it was all worth it.”
