Horror actor Sid Haig, famous for films like House of 1000 Corpses as well as his role of Captain Spaulding in Rob Zombie films, died on Saturday, his wife said. He was 80.

Haig’s wife, Susan L. Oberg, took to Instagram to make the announcement about a week after Haig was admitted to the hospital with serious breathing complications after suffering a fall. She called his passing “a shock.”

Fans shared their condolences on social media for the horror star, who appeared n several Rob Zombie movies over the years.
